Traveling to Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is a popular travel destination in Eastern Europe that welcomed almost 800 thousand visitors in 2020. Certain foreign nationals can enter Azerbaijan visa-free or obtain a visa on arrival, while citizens of 78 countries are eligible to apply online for the Azerbaijan e-Visa. All other foreign nationals must apply for an Azerbaijan sticker visa before traveling to Azerbaijan.
Depending on the traveler’s nationality and the purpose of their trip, Azerbaijan visa applicants can either apply for a single or multiple entry Azerbaijan entry or transit visa. Azerbaijan single entry visas and e-Visas are normally single entry and allow a 30-day stay within the 90-day validity period from the date of visa issuance. Azerbaijan transit visas allow a 5-day stay within the 30-day validity period.

Azerbaijan visa requirements
The following general requirements are required for all visas. Certain visa types may have additional requirements depending on the type of visa, the applicant's nationality, or the intended frequency of travel.

Two color passport photos, size 3x4cm
Application form
A completed, printed and signed Azerbaijan application form
Medical insurance
A copy of the medical insurance certificate

Some types of Azerbaijan visas have additional requirements than those listed above, such as an invitation letter by a local host, hotel booking, onward ticket, proof of medical treatment, or sufficient financial proof. The following steps are required to apply for an Azerbaijan e-Visa and Azerbaijan sticker visa:
Azerbaijan e-Visa
Azerbaijan e-Visas are available to individuals, families of 2 to 10 people, or for a group of 10 to 300 people. Follow these steps if you are a foreign national eligible to apply online for the Azerbaijan e-Visa:

Receive payment approval confirmation to your email inbox.
- Wait for Azerbaijan visa decision
• If approved, receive Azerbaijan visa to the email you provided.
• Verify that the information is correct.
• Print approved Azerbaijan e-Visa and present hard copy along with passport at immigration upon arrival to Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan e-Visas can be fully applied for online, and no physical visit to an Azerbaijan embassy or representation is required.
Azerbaijan Sticker visa
Unless exempt or eligible for an Azerbaijan e-Visa or visa-on-arrival, all foreign nationals must apply for an Azerbaijan sticker visa, prior to travel, by following these steps:
- Complete Azerbaijan visa application form
Download, fill and sign the application form.
- Schedule an Azerbaijan visa appointment
Contact your nearest Azerbaijan embassy or representation office to set an appointment.
- Attend your scheduled appointment at Azerbaijan embassy or representation office
• Submit Azerbaijan visa application and required documents.
• Pay the Azerbaijan visa fees. - Wait for Azerbaijan visa decision
• If approved, pick up Azerbaijan visa from the Azerbaijan embassy or representation office where you applied.
• Verify that all information is correct and matches your passport.

Azerbaijan Sticker visa
Foreign nationals required to apply for an Azerbaijan sticker visa should apply at their nearest Azerbaijan embassy or representation office abroad.

Azerbaijan e-Visas are processed and issued within 3 business days. For sticker visa processing times, please contact your nearest Azerbaijan embassy or representation office, as times may vary. It is always recommended to start the application process early, in case of delays or unforeseen circumstances.
Azerbaijan visa FAQ
Azerbaijan e-Visas take no more than 3 business days to be processed and issued, while Azerbaijan sticker Visas take up to 15 business days. It is always advised to apply for your Azerbaijan visa well ahead of time, in case of any unexpected issues or delays.
The Azerbaijan e-Visa fees are $20. Visa fees for a single-entry sticker visa is $20 and $350 for multiple entry, and $20 for transit visas. Please note that Azerbaijan e-Visas carry an additional $5 processing service fee. Azerbaijan visa fees are non-refundable, even in the cases of denied visas.
UAE residents are now eligible to obtain a visa-on-arrival and stay in Azerbaijan for 30 days.
Azerbaijan is not part of the Schengen zone.
