Georgia is a popular destination for tourism and business that welcomes almost 10 million visitors per year. Unless visa exempt, foreign nationals wishing to enter Georgia are required to apply, before traveling, for the appropriate Georgia visa, based on their intended purpose for traveling to Georgia. 

Foreign nationals from over 95 countries can enter Georgia visa-free for a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day validity period. The most common Georgia visa for tourism and short-term business purposes is the Ordinary Georgia visa. Depending on your nationality, the single-entry Ordinary Georgia visa allows a stay of no more than 30 days within a 120-day validity period, or 90 days within a 180-day validity period. The multiple-entry Ordinary Georgia visa is valid for a maximum of 5 years and allows the traveler to make several visits to Georgia and stay a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period.

Long-term Georgia visas usually have a one-year validity period and allow the traveler to stay for a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period. Georgia transit visas allow a 10-day stay in Georgia.

If you are a foreign national who is required to obtain a Georgia sticker visa or Georgia e-Visa prior to traveling to Georgia, you must apply for the appropriate Georgia visa based on your purpose for traveling to Georgia. The Georgia visa types are: 

  1. Diplomatic Visa (A category)
  2. Special Visa (B category)
  3. Ordinary Visa (short-term) (C category) Better known as the Georgia Tourist visa, this visa is issued for tourism, business meetings, cultural or sports events, science and research, family visits, humanitarian assistance, journalism, and other short-term activities. The following Georgia visas included under this type are:
  4. Immigration Visa (long-term) (D category) This visa is issued to visitors requiring longer stay durations in Georgia, including employment, educational enrollment, official duty, humanitarian assistance, journalism, real estate investment, and other long-term activities. The following Georgia visas included under this type are:
    • Work visa (D1): long-term employment
    • Professional visa (D2): sports and culture, science and research, journalism, and other
    • Study visa (D3): educational enrollment
    • Family visa (D4): family reunification
    • Property visa (D5): real estate property investment or ownership
  5. Transit Visa (10 days) (T category)

The following is required to apply for all Georgia visas:

Passport

A passport valid for at least 3 months after the expiry of visa, with at least 2 blank pages 

Personal photo

One digital passport photo, no more than 6 months old, size 4 x 5.16cm

Financial proof

Proof of financial means during stay in Georgia, such as 3-month bank statement or employment letter

Accommodation

Proof of hotel booking, rental agreement, or real estate
