Required Documents for Georgia Visa
All documents must be in either English or Georgian.
For e-visa applications
- Passport/ Travel Document
- Must be valid for at least 3 months after the expiry of the Georgia visa applied for.
- With at least 2 blank pages
- Must be in good condition, not more than 10 years old, and without any unofficial markings
- Photograph
- Taken within the past 6 months and reflect the current appearance of the visa applicant. Must face the camera directly, with head size between 50% and 70% of the image’s total height from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin.
- Full face must be visible. Head covering is only allowed for religious purposes and should not cover or cast shadows on the face.
- Proof of purpose of travel to Georgia such as invitation letter from an organization, or any other document that demonstrates the purpose of visit to the country
- Proof of accommodation
- Copy of rental agreement or hotel booking, or proof of real estate
- Travel and health insurance
- Proof of sufficient financial means
- Bank statement over a period of the last 3 months
- Letter from employer indicating applicant’s position in the company and salary
- Letter from sponsor including the full name, address, and contact information of the sponsor. The relationship between the sponsor and the applicant, the costs covered by the sponsor, as well as destination and duration of visit in Georgia must be also indicated.
NOTE: All documents must be scanned copies so that they can be uploaded to the website during the application process.
For sticker visa applications
- Passport/ Travel Document
- Must be valid for at least 3 months after the expiry of the Georgia visa applied for.
- With at least 2 blank pages
- Must be in good condition, not more than 10 years old, and without any unofficial markings
- Passport-sized photo
- Must follow ICAO standards with a resolution of 300 dots per inch, 4 x 5.16 cm in size
- Completed visa application form
- Proof of consular fee payment
- Letter of invitation, if applicable
- Must be written by a citizen of Georgia, or a person with a residence permit in Georgia, or a legal person in the country, or of a Ministry of Georgia or the Office of the State Minister of Georgia, or a diplomatic mission, or a consular office, or an international organization accredited in the country, confirming the applicant’s purpose of arrival in the country.
- The invitation must be submitted as a notarized original document to the authority issuing the visa, except only in the case of the document’s notarization being verified through the website of the LEPL – Notary Chamber of Georgia. In such a case, a copy of the invitation will be sufficient.
- At the time the applicant is being invited, the person granting the invitation must also be present in Georgia.
- Proof of fine, if applicable
- Applicants who have been previously flagged for illegally staying in Georgia must pay a fine. The receipt confirming the payment must be presented among the list of documents.
- Applicants below the age of 18 must submit the following additional requirements:
- A letter of consent from the representatives of the minors must be written and submitted to the Georgia visa requirements issuing authorities. This is also applicable to minors in the category of mental disorders.
NOTE: Some applicants may be required to submit additional Georgia visa requirements, and may also be required to attend an interview to confirm the accuracy and authenticity of the documents submitted.
Georgia Visa Application Steps
For e-visa applications
- Prepare all the required documents for a Georgia visa application.
- Fill out the Georgia visa application form.
- Visit the official website of the Georgia e-visa portal and fill out the application form in English.
- Submit the Georgia visa application form online.
- An email will be sent to the email address used for the Georgian visa application and submission. Note that the email confirmation must be done within an hour, otherwise the Georgian visa application will be cancelled.
- Pay the Georgia visa fee.
- After the email verification step, the applicant can proceed to payment. Payment must be made within 5 hours after receiving the notification email, otherwise the e-visa application will be cancelled. Once successful payment is made, the applicant will receive a notification email indicating the amount paid, as well as the details of the application.
For paper application
- Gather all the documents required for a Georgian visa.
- Decide which visa category you would like to obtain.
- Short-term visa: This Georgia visa can be issued with either a single entry or multiple entries. It is issued according to the length of stay requested by the applicant on the visa application form but can’t exceed 30 days. A short-term, multiple-entry visa can be issued for a maximum of 5 years but the length of stay shall not exceed 90 days.
- Long-term visa: This Georgia visa option is only issued for the purpose of multiple entries for a term of 90 days. The visa is valid for a year.
- Fill out the Georgia visa application form.
- Visit the official website of the Georgia E-Application System, fill out the Georgia visa application form, and attach the required documents.
- Submit the Georgia visa application form online.
- After submitting the application online, it must be printed, signed, and submitted to the Georgian consulate or embassy.
- Schedule an appointment with the Georgia consulate, embassy, or authorized VAC to accept documents. Alternatively, an appointment can be scheduled during the filing of the application form online through the E-Application System.
- Attend your Georgian visa appointment.
- Submit the printed and signed application form along with the other Georgia visa requirements. Applicants are expected to arrive for their consulate or embassy appointment alone, except in the case of minors.
- Pay the Georgia visa fees at the embassy.
Georgia Visa Fees
The Georgian visa fee for e-visa portal applications is US$20 and an additional 2% service fee. For sticker visas, applicants will be able to see the amount that needs to be paid in their local currency or in US dollars, as well as the bank account name and number where payment should be transferred after they fill out the application form. For international transfers, there may be additional commission charges. The full visa fee must be paid in order for the visa application process to proceed. Note that all visa fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the visa application.
Where to Apply
Georgian visa applications can be submitted in two ways. E-visa applications are to be submitted online while sticker visa applications can be submitted to any Georgian Consular Office that covers the applicant’s consular district, or VAC.
Georgia Visa Application Processing time
The processing time for Georgia visa applications after submission is 5 working days for short-term visas submitted through the e-visa portal; 10 calendar days for short-term visas and 30 calendar days for long-term visas submitted through the Georgian consulate, embassy, or VAC.
For Approved Georgia Visa Applications
After receiving the visa, it is advised that all information be checked to ensure they are correct and match the information on the passport. Any discrepancies may lead to refusal of entry to the country. Additionally, those with Georgian e-visas are required to present the following requirements at the border:
- Passport or travel document
- Proof of purpose of travel to Georgia
- Proof of accommodation
- Travel and health insurance
- Proof of sufficient financial means
For Rejected Georgia Visa Applications
In the event when a Georgian visa application is denied, applicants have the right to file an appeal within the first ten business days of awareness.
- Download the Appeal Form.
- Both the appeal and attached documents must be submitted in the Georgian language.
- An appeal (along with other documents) written in a language other than Georgian must be submitted with an authentic Georgian translation.
To be qualified for an appeal:
- The applicant must be of full age
- If the applicant is a minor: one of their parents or a legal representative must be available
- A person with a certified power of attorney must be the representative of the visa applicant
Note: After the applicant’s awareness of the decision, the judgment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on denying to allow the appeal may be appealed to one of the courts of Georgia within 30 days.
