Can Dominica Passport Holders Travel to China Without a Visa?

China is one of the most popular travel destinations for many reasons including tourism, medical treatments, and business opportunities. Travelers from certain nationalities can travel to China without a visa.

Recently, svippassport.org has received many inquiries from Dominica passport holders, and those interested in obtaining Dominica Citizenship by Investment, about whether they need a visa to travel to China. This is likely due to the news published in November 2021 concerning Dominica signing a visa waiver agreement with China. However, according to October 2022 data issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the primary source used by all global airlines for information related to regulations and standards governing travel, Dominica has not yet been included on the list of countries whose citizens can travel to China without a visa. In short, Dominica citizens currently need to apply in advance to obtain a China visa before traveling.

It should be noted that the visa waiver agreement can be entered into force at any time during the coming period. Until then, Dominica passport holders are advised to check with their airline before making plans to travel to China.

Nationalities than can travel to China without a visa

Several nationalities can currently travel to China without the need to apply for a visa in advance. 

They can be divided into the following categories based on the duration of stay granted to them in China:

• Nationals of these countries can stay in China for up to 30 days: United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Grenada, Serbia, Ecuador, Belarus, Bahamas, Barbados, Suriname, Seychelles, Tonga, and Fiji 
  
• Nationals of this country can stay in China for up to 60 days: Mauritius 
  
• Nationals of these countries can stay in China for up to 90 days: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia, and San Marino 

Other nationalities that may be able to travel to China without a visa soon

• The Republic of Maldives: The Maldives has signed a Visa Waiver Agreement with China, under which citizens of Maldives will be able to travel to China without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days. The agreement, signed on January 8, 2022, is expected to enter into force when the travel restrictions related to the Covid-19 epidemic are lifted.

• Oman: During a meeting between the Omani Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, earlier this year, it was announced that both parties agreed to mutually exempt their citizens from obtaining visas in advance to travel the other country. The two countries are expected to sign this agreement in the coming period.
