Bahrain Suspends Quarantine and Testing Rules for International Travel

The Civil Aviation Affairs, Bahrain’s national aviation authority, has eased international travel at Bahrain International Airport through the removal of certain requirements related to the COVID-19 pandemic. More specifically, the travel quarantine requirement and the testing upon arrival requirement have been eliminated.

Until now, all people arriving in Bahrain International Airport from abroad had to take a PCR test upon arrival, in addition to quarantine requirements for non-vaccinated travelers. But starting from Sunday 20 February 2022, this preventive health protocol will be lifted.

The decision comes right after the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus recommended the introduction of different health entry procedures at Bahrain International Airport.

Testing upon arrival will only be required if the passenger has COVID-19 symptoms. In this case, they can take a rapid antigen test at the airport. If the results are positive, then they must take a PCR test at a testing center.

Bahrain International Airport will also keep its personnel focused on the continuous sanitization of surfaces, security trays, passenger and staff shuttle buses, etc., as well as the specialized disinfection team, which responds to incidents 24/7. Bahrain airport also counts with handrail disinfection systems at travelators and escalators. Moreover, robots often sanitize the airport with ultraviolet lights.
